Francis Asbury Ford was born September 28, 1851 in Georgia, son of Richard Asbury Ford and Martha Louise (Graham) Ford.

He married Mary M Ward. Their children are Zoolu C (1878) and Abner (1881) Ford. In 1881, his wife along with their children, Zoolu and Abner, died.

He married again to Sarah Dudley Parks. Their children included Lela B (1884), Willie Elliott (1888), Samuel Weaver (1890), James Gober (1892), Frank A (1895), Dudley Parks (1898) and Walter Wortham (1902) Ford.

On July 30, 1919, Francis A. Ford, age 68, died in Woodland, TX, with burial in Woodland Cemetery, Woodland, Red River County, Texas.
