Frank Lizakowski was born in Czapiewice, Brusy Parish, Poland, on November 30, 1842 to Josephum Lizakowski and Catharinam Marianna Zuroch Czapiewska.
Frank married Marianna Chirkowska in 1866 in Czersk Parish, Marianna was born in 1852 in Poland.
One Daughter Francisca was born in 1869 in Czersk Parish. Marianna maiden named was listed as Chirek.
According to the death records of Frank and Joseph their mother’s maiden name was Hirkowski and not Chyrek list is suggested in some histories, but both spellings were used.
Frank and Marian immigrated to America in 1870 on the Ocean Queen from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Along with Frank and Marianna were Johann and Marianne Herkowski these appear to be Marianna parents and there ages are listed as 1828 and 1836 respectively. They are listed as from Abbau Legbond, Czersk, Conitz
On the ships list for the Ocean Queen arriving in the United States on May 2, 1870 was Franz Lissakowsky age 27, farmer, from Germany.
According to the family history Frank first stopped in LadySmith, Rusk County, WS. Based on the birth of his sons the family moved to Rush Lake, MN, and lived there two years. From there they moved to St. Joseph, Sterns County, MN, where he built and operated a water powered grist mill for several years and then they moved to Perham, Otter Tail, MN, where Vincent was born. The only supporting document is that they appeared on the 1875 Census in Rose Lake, Otter Tail County, MN
On hearing of an opening of land for settling in North Dakota he sold his mill and came to North Dakota with his family in a covered wagon driven by an ox team in 1877 and filed homestead claims in section 7 in Walshville Township. Here he built a log cabin which still stands on that property. Later he built a big log house and other farm buildings, all from oak trees on the south bank of the Forest River.
Besides farming he was interested in woodcrafts, Frank built the altar at the first St. Stanislaus Church in 1884. Frank erected a crucifix at the cemetery site and hand crafted several Violins.
