Frank Wardyn Sr., a resident of Ashton for 33 years died at his home in Ashton, Monday, Dec. 6 at 9:30 A. M. at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 13 days. He had been failing in health for the past year. Frank Wardyn was born in Poland, March 19, 1953. He was married to Polly Mylock in Chicago, Ill., in 1875. To this union nine sons and five daughters were born, seven sons and one daughter having preceded him in death. His wife died July 12, 1917.

Mr. Wardyn came to America from Poland in 1868, settling in Chicago, where he was employed in a cabinet work shop. Several years later, he and his wife came to Howard county, Nebraska and settled on a farm near Paplin, where they resided for 26 years, before moving to Ashton.

He is survived by one brother, Anastasia Wardyn of Omaha, two sons, Frank, Jr., and John of Ashton, four daughters, Mrs. Polly Kwiatkowski of Kansas City, Mrs. Mary Goc of Ashton, Mrs. John Jezewski of Loup City, and Mrs. Francis [sic] Galczenski of Kansas City. He is also survived by 32 grand-children and 38 great grand-children. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church in Paplin, at 10 o'clock with Rev. A. Figlerski, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. C. Szumski of Elyria and Rev. T. Sudowski of Sargent. A short service was held at the home by Rev. A. Jarzemski.

Interment was made in the Mt. Carmel cemetery. The pallbearers were members of the St. Isadore Society, namely, Geo. Kuszak, Paul Maiefski, Joe Jankowski, Ed Synowski, Joe Kosmicki and Frank Smedra.
