Member of the "Heemraad" of Drakenstein and luitenant of the "Krygsraad".

With his father-in-law they provided a lot of help in the building of the Church and Parsonage. Rev. Arnold Meiring was so grateful for this that he passed a resolution in the Church Council meeting of 22 August 1756 that the chairs of their wives must remain in the front row as long as they lived. Men and women sat separately in the Church. The men sat on benches while women brought their chairs to Church where these chairs were arranged according to the importance of their husbands.[1]
Francois du Toit owned the loan farm "Winterhoek" in the "Land van Waveren " from 1725. After his death in 1752 it was inherited by his son Jacobus. They farmed cattle and wheat.[2][1]
He was also a member of the local council and lieutenant in the army's council. He owned the quit rent farm Winterhoek in the Land of Waveren ( Wolseley )which was officially allocated to him in 1725.[1]
After his death in 1752, the son Jacobus became the owner, and kept it until 1701. Wihterhoek was originally owned by Pieter van Marseveen who in 1717 met and married Maria Theron. Upon van Marseveen's death in 1721, his widow married François du Toit who then became the owner of the farm.[1]
