McCalla, Frank Edward Whitmore Lake, MI Age 91, died June 18, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI after a short illness. He was born September 3, 1913 in Ann Arbor, MI the son of Charles and Anna (Morgan) McCalla. On May 11, 1935 in Saline, Michigan, he married Eleen Girbach, a marriage that lasted 66 years until her death in October of 2001. Frank and Eleen lived in Washtenaw County until 1957. They moved to Mason, Michigan and spent 35 years there until they returned to Washtenaw County in 1992. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Ypsi lanti, and a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Northfield Township. Frank was a Dairy Farmer and a long time 4-H leader. He was a member of the Michigan Professional Dairy Farmers, the Farm Bureau, Kiwanis Club of Mason and was instrumental in establishing the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds at its current site on Saline-Ann Arbor Rd. Survivors include four children, Frances (David) Baldus of Dexter, MI; Dr. Darold (Judy) McCalla of E. Lansing, MI; Dale (Meris) McCalla of Rossville, IL; and Susan (Roger) Pritzel of Ann Arbor, MI; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Albert (Barbara) McCalla of Marine City, MI, Morgan (Pat) McCalla of Diamondale, MI, William McCalla of Ann Arbor, MI; two sisters-in-law, Elaine McCalla of Chelsea and Jeanne Girbach of Saline, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Raymond McCalla and one sister, Carolyn Stump. Frank was a loving father, mentor and role model to his family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northfield Township with Pastor John Paul Gierach officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Saline. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2945 E. Northfield Church Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Envelopes will be avail able at the ROBISON-BAHN MILLER FUNERAL HOME in Saline where friends may begin calling on Tuesday June 21, 2005 from 2:00-8:00 PM and on Wednesday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. - See more at: http://obits.mlive.com/obituaries/annarbor/obituary.aspx?pid=143270...
