Father, Washington McClintock; engaged in the carpet business as member of firm of W. McClintock & Company, W. McClintock & Son, and Oliver McClintock & Company, successively; son of Alexander and Elizabeth Rutledge (Bain) McClintock; great-grandson of Alexander McClintock, who came from County Tyrone, Ireland, in 1740 and settled in Cumberland (now Perry) County, Pennsylvania.

Mother, Eliza (Thompson) McClintock; daughter of Samuel and Mary (Parke) Thompson; granddaughter of Daniel Thompson, who came from Scotland; descendant of Arthur Parke, a native of Donegal County, Ireland, who came to America prior to 1724. Other ancestors were his great-great-uncle, Capt. John McClintock, wno was killed at the battle of the Brandy wine in 1777, and his great-grandfather, William McChntock, who took part in the battle of German town, where he nearly lost his life, and was also at Valley Forge.

Yale relatives include four nephews: A. Garrison McClintock, '90, Norman and Walter McClintock, both '91, C. Oliver McClintock, ex-96, and Harvey C. McClintock, '03.

Phillips Andover, First lieutenant '75, Boat Club Freshman year; member Class Crew (Freshman year), Class Baseball Nine (Freshman, Junior, and Senior years), College Choir, Yale Glee Club, '75 Glee Club (Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years), Delta Beta Xi, Delta Kappa Epsilon, and Scroll and Key. Traveled in the West and South 1875-77; secretary of Penn Cotton Mill at Pittsburgh 1877-1881, resigning position on account of ill health; admitted to partnership in firm of Oliver McCintock & Company January 1, 1884, and continued with it after its incorporation as The Oliver McClintock Company in 1897 until it was dissolved in 1914; since then had not been actively engaged in business; deacon and trustee of Third Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh.

Married June 4, 1884, in Pittsburgh, Stella, daughter of Thomas Bowdoin and Hester (Stockton) Updike. Children: Bowdoin Updike (B.A. 1907, LL.B. University of Pittsburgh 1910), who served in this country and France as a First Lieutenant of Field Artillery during the war; Frank Stockton (B.A. 1907, BS. Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1909), who held a commission as a Major in the Coast Artillery; Kenneth, ex-13 S., who was a Second Lieutenant in the Coast Artillery, Madeleine; and Rodman (B.S. Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1920).

Death due to cancer. Buried in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Survived by wife, four sons, daughter, a sister, Mrs. William M. Kennedy, of Pittsburgh, and a brother, Thompson McClintock, '70. Three other brothers were the late Oliver McClintock, *6i, Walter L. McClintock, '62, and Washington McClintock, ex- 69.
