About Frank G. Penner
Frank G. Penner was born to Abram and Agatha Giesbrecht Penner at Sunnyslope, Alberta, on October 27, 1906, and quietly passed away at the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, Manitoba, on September 6, 1995, just short of his eighty-ninth birthday.
At the age of one year he, with his parents, moved to Manitoba. He grew to manhood in the Landmark, Manitoba, area.
He had an experience of conversion in his youth and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
On January 17, 1926, he married our mother, Maria Toews, sharing life together on the farm and lumber camps until our mother was called home in November, 1972. After Mother's passing, Dad spent many lonely hours.
He was a loving father to us. In the last months he would often express his wish to meet all his children and grandchildren in heaven.
He is survived by three sons: Vernie, Steinbach, Manitoba; Alvin and Leona, Cartwright, Manitoba; and Leo, Edmonton, Alberta; two daughters: Lily and Jake Wiebe, Cartwright, Manitoba; and Rosa and John Ginter, Steinbach, Manitoba; one daughter-in-law, Rae; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; four brothers: Harvey and Edna; Neil and Esther; Aron and Linda; and Allan and Mary; two sisters: Leah and Ben Giesbrecht; and Elma and Robert Toews; one brother-in-law, Dan and Mary Reimer; and one sister-in-law, Nettie Penner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, one daughter-in-law, his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services were held on September 9, 1995, at the Loewen Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba, with Pastor Archie Penner officiating. Interment was in the Greenland Cemetery, with Min. Alfred Barkman in charge of the graveside service.
