About Franklin Pierce Best
From "A History of the Andrew Moore Family of Jefferson County, Pennsylvania", compiled by Jude Fischer, 1984.
Franklin and his wife, Jane were 2nd cousins.
Franklin was 22 when his father died; he bought the family home, which was sold to pay his father's debts. He later opened a small hotel, Best House, in West Reynoldsville (or Ohiotown), PA, in the part of Reynoldsville located on the west side of Sandy Lick, near the depot and offices of the Low Grade division of the Allegheny Railroad. The hotel was built by Dr. R.M. Boyle in 1878. Franklin ran the hotel for about a year and then sold it to his cousin, A.U. Moore, who changed the name to Moore House.
Frank then was a farmer; he was a school director for many years.
