Will of Frederick Burdett (Will Bk. C, p. 161, Garrard Co., Kentucky) In the name of God amen I Frederick Burdett of the County of Garrard and State of Kentucky being in a state of helth By the affecting hand of God upon my body but thanks be to his name. I am blessed with soundness of mind and memory and calling to mind that I must yield to death whenever providence calls for me. I do hereby make this as my last will and testament revoking and disanuling all other wills by me heretofore made either verbally or in writing and desires this to be considered and taken by all men as my last will and testament and my desire is that the estate that providence has blessed me be disposed of after my decease in the following manner to wit. In the first place I give and bequeath to my oldest son James living in Faquier County Virginia thirty pounds Current money in addition to what I have formerly given him which is all that I intend to give him out of my estate I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Polly negro girrel named Ruthey to her and her heirs forever as also one hundred and ninety-one acres of land being part of Lawsons military Survey and numbered in the general plat four agreeable to lines and corners marking the same off on the ground to my Daughter Polly and her heirs forever. I also given and bequeath to my son in law Jno. Kamper the plantation and all the improvements whereon I now live suposed to be about one hundred acres to him and his heirs forever. I also give and bequeath to my son John a lot of land Lawsons military Survey designated in the plat No. Six being that part of the survey which bounds upon the Ohio River to him and his heirs forever. I also give and bequeath to my son William a lot of land in said Lawsons Military Survey designated in the Plat number nine and contains one hundred acres to him and his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my grandaughter Polly and Daughter of my son Frederick deceased one lot of land in the said Lawsons military survey designated in the plat number ten containing one hundred acres to her and her heirs forever and my will and desire is that after all just Debts and funeral expences is paid that the whole of the remainder of my estate be equally divided among my children herein after named to wit Joshua Joseph Willem Enoch Anne Crocket Judy Kamper Hannah Mayfield Ketty Floyd Lucy Peach(Frest?) my Daughter Polly and my grand daughter Polly Burdett Daughter to my son (name illegible?) deceased. my will and desire farther is if either of the Polly, that is to say my Daughter and my Grand Daughter should Depart this life without heirs lawfully begotten of their Bodie then in that case the legacy or legacys conveyed to them by this will is to be sold and equally divided among my children last named in this will or their heirs if any of them should be deceased. And I do hereby appoint my sons Joshua and Joseph Smith Burdett as my Executers to carry into efect after my Deceice this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this 6th Day of August and year of our lord 1802--

I Frederick Burdett Senior of the County of Garrard do make and ordain this to be a codicil to my last will and testament -- To wit. Whereas in my last will and testament I have Ordered and directed that my oldest son James Burdett of Fauquier County Virginia do receive out of my estate thirty pounds Current money and no more in full, of his legacy in my will as is herein to bequeath to my oldest son James Burdett a tract of three hundred acres land lying in the County of Scott adjoining a claim of Daniel Bradford on the dividing ridge between the waters of Egle Creek and Elkhorn and the Spicy Ridge which said tract of land was entered by John L. Bradford for me in my name and in my name surveyed the said Bradford being by me paid for locating the said land the whole of the said tract of land being for the proper use and behoof of my son James his heirs and assigns forever with the promise that in case any tract or the whole of the aforesaid tract of land should be lost by any other contending claim or claims or by any other forfeiture or forfeitures whatsoever that in any way or manner or may hereafter affect the title of the said my son James can in no case come upon my estate or legatees to make the lose in that case good but is simply to have the said tract of land as it now stand without any promise to my estate. Heirs or legatees as witness my hand and Sealed with my seal this 21st Day of January 1804

I Frederick Burdett of the County of Garrard and State of Kentuck do make and ordain this to be a suplament to the Codicil to my last will and testament to wit --

It is my will and desire that my Granson Joshua Kamper do hold and poses(s) after my decease my negro boy named Edmund for his proper use and behoof to him and his heirs forever on this promise that whenever my Grandson Joshua Kamper takes the said boy Edmund into his possession he shall advance and pay up to my Executors the sum of eigty pounds good and lawfull money of the said state to be by my Executor equaly divided amongst the legatees named in my last will or their heirs Except my Grandaughter Polly Burdett as witness my hand and sealed with my seal this sixth Day of April 1808 --
