About Frederick (Fred) George Brundritt
Dad worked as a free lance carpenter and for the Provincial Dept of Parks as well as the Highway Dept.
He built a motor boat in our garage and called it 'Sheri Marr' for his 3 children: Marjorie, Shirley and Larry.
He constantly repainted, papered and changed the architectural elements of our little house, including moving the staircase a couple times.
Whenever we went for a Sunday drive, he would stop for ice cream cones on the way home. He always got "Butter Pee Can" which he could eat with a cigaret hanging onto his bottom lip. He helped me make a pinball machine with a board, lots of little nails, a cabinet knob and a spring.
He was pulling shingles off the roof of an old fisheries' building on the north shore of Lake Erie when a piece of material lodged in his face. That lead to an infection, a brain abcess with surgeries and a long recovery. He was always frail after that. After several heart attacks he died working in the yard from a ruptured brain aneurism. He was 61.
He served in the Canadian Army in World War II on Vancouver Island, as a gunner.
