Death Notice: KAB MOOC 6/9/2 267 (1834), which lists Joseph van Eeden and Anna Francina Booyzen as parents. His Baptism Record (see Sources) confirms this information.

The following 10 children are mentioned in his Death Notice:

1. Sacharya Geertruij (e1)

2. Anna Francina (e2)

3. Maria Elizabeth (e3) - who died 20 April 1826 leaving six children as named in the Inventory

4. Joseph Albertus (e4)

5. Cornelia Hendrina (e5)

6. Jacobus Albertus (e6)

7. Fredrik Jacobus (e7)

8. Gideon Johannes (e8)

9. Christina Johanna (e9) and

10. Aletta Catharina van Eeden (e10)

- all majors, except the children of Maria Elizabeth, who are all minors.

GISA's SAF CD Vol. 9 contains these two sets of highly confusing parents and children:

(A) Frederik Jacobus van Eeden (b4c7d2) * 20.8.1764 (p.145 of SAF Vol 9) (the son of Joseph van Eeden (b4c7) x Anna Francina Margaretha Booysen) is followed by the names of ten children, Zacharia Geertruida (e1) through to Aletta Catharina (e10.)

(B) And immediately after the entry for Frederik Jacobus van Eeden (b4c8d3) * c. 1767 (p.170 of SAF Vol 9) (son of Johannes Dirk van Eeden (b4c8) and Wilhelmina Coetze) follows the names of EXACTLY THE SAME ten children, Zacharia Geertruida (e1) through to Aletta Catharina (e10.)

Since the two Frederik Jacobus van Eedens could hardly have had identical children, one of the two sets of children must have been an accidental duplication. But which one?

How to establish which of the above two Frederik Jacobus van Eedens was actually the biological father of these ten kids?

KAB MOOC 6/9/2 267 (1834) is the Death Notice of a Fredrik Jacobus van Eeden, who died on 26.5.1834 at the age of 69 years 10 months and 6 days. He thus born close to 20.8.1764.

(1) This calculated date of birth happens to be identical to Frederik Jacobus van Eeden (b4c7d2)'s date of birth.

(2) The Death Notice refers to a "C D Blom" being Frederik Jacobus van Eeden's son-law. Indeed, Cornelis David Blom, b2c6e6) is married to Aletta Catharina Blom (van Eeden), b4c7d2e10, daughter of Frederik Jacobus van Eeden (b4c7d2).

(3) Most importantly, this Death Notice makes it clear that the parents of this Frederik Jacobus van Eeden are Joseph van Eeden and Anna Francina Booysen, the same as for Frederik Jacobus van Eeden (b4c7d2).

There is thus no doubt that Frederik Jacobus van Eeden (b4c7d2) (this profile) is the correct profile to be using as father of these ten children.
