Frederick Lygon, 6th Earl Beauchamp was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England. He matriculated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 15 December 1848. He held the office of President of the Oxford Union Society in 1851. He was a Fellow of All Souls College in 1852. He graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1852 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1856 with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Tewkesbury between 1857 and 1863. He held the office of a Lord of the Admiralty between March 1859 and June 1859. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for West Worcestershire between 1863 and 1866. He succeeded to the title of 6th Viscount Elmley [U.K., 1815] on 4 March 1866. He succeeded to the title of 6th Baron Beauchamp of Powyk, co. Gloucestershire [U.K., 1806] on 4 March 1866. He succeeded to the title of 6th Earl Beauchamp [U.K., 1815] on 4 March 1866. He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 22 June 1870 with a honorary Doctor of Civil Laws (D.C.L.). He held the office of Lord Steward of the Household between 1874 and 1880. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 2 March 1874. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire between 1876 and 1891. He held the office of Paymaster-General between 1885 and 1887.

He died on 19 February 1891 at age 60 at Madresfield Court, Worcestershire, England, suddenly, at dinner, from heart disease. His will was probated, at £114,741.
