As a result of her marriage, Lady Margaret Lygon was styled as Baronness Ampthill on 6 October 1894. From 6 October 1894, her married name became Russell. She was decorated with the Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.) in 1900. She was decorated with the Kaisar-i-Hind Gold Medal in 1906. She held the office of Lady of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Mary. She was invested as a Dame Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1918. She was invested as a Dame of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.). She was invested as a Dame Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1946.
