About Frederick Muller
Fred was a surveyor who was appointed by the SA government to work with a German surveyor to determine the boundary of the enclave of Walvis Bay (or "Walfish Bay Territory" as he called it in his report). This survey took place in May and June 1914. After the outbreak of war he joined the Union Defence Force, took part in the SWA campaign and was awarded the DSO for his exploits. He died as one of the early victims of the influenza epidemic that followed the war. (Prof. Frederick Roy Muller - grandson)
