About Friedrich "Fritz" Feiner

Friedrich "Fritz" FEINER: b. 8 May 1888, Mistek- d. after 2 Sept 1942, Auschwitz, HOLOCAUST

N.B. Not 100% sure of this relationship but looks likely ...

Though the Drancy Mémorial de la Shoah source gives Friedrich's place of birth as Vienna, in fact he was born in Mistek.

Unfortunately, there are no Frydeck/Mistek archives available for viewing for this period. However, the birth index starting 1893:

https://vademecum.nacr.cz/vademecum/permalink?xid=55d190c8-fedd-4c7...

... suggests that the most likely couple called FEINER producing children at around that time would be Vilem/Wilhelm FEINER & Hermina née WECHSBERGER/OVÁ.

FEINEROVÁ Frieda b. 1894, Vilem & Hermina WECHSBERGOVÁ

FEINER Ferdinand b. 1896, Vilem & Hermina WECHSBERGOVÁ

FEINEROVÁ Marta b. 1897, Vilem & Hermina WECHSBERGOVÁ

Rather later (from 1905 onwards) another couple are listed - Abraham FEINER & Gisela STUKS/OVÁ. Wilhelm and Abraham could well be brothers ...

Abraham Feiner

Friedrich FEINER must have fled to France with his wife Maria Therese née THALLER. The couple appear on a list of those obliged to leave their chosen new home in Beausoleil, Alpes-Maritimes, and forced to move to Castellane, Basses-Alpes.

cf. document from Shoah archives of the Nice region:

List of those Jewish emigrés forced to move to Castellane.

Presumably Friedrich's wife was not Jewish.

- there is no record of their marriage to be found at IKG-Wien (THALLER not a "Jewish" surname, besides)

- she was not deported with her husband.

- she survived the Holocaust and placed a search notice for Friedrich in an 1946 newspaper (cf. below)

Details of deportation and subsequent death courtesy of:

Friedrich was in the region of Nice, Côte d'Azur, where he was rounded up in the notorious "Rafles d'août" in August 1942. The arrested Jewish citizens were incarcerated in the Caserne Auvare for a while before being put on a goods train, in locked-up wagons, and transferred to Drancy.
