Friedrich Mahler

Friedrich Mahler (the 8th son of 11, and 10th child among the 14 Mahler siblings) was born 23 April 1871, at Iglau/Jihlava, Moravia. He died on 15 December 1871, age 8 months, on the same date as his sibling, Arnold’s death, who was almost 2 years of age on the date that both little boys perished. This date was further saddened for the family, as it was little Justine’s 3rd birthday. Gustav Mahler was age 11. It is believed that both of the Mahler children died of either diphtheria, or of typhoid fever, (possibly of both diseases, concurrently, as did Gustav Mahler's firstborn child, Maria Anna, in 1907).
