  • He was born as one of eleven children of Wolf II of Dalberg , mayor of Oppenheim and court of Palatinate, as well as his wife Gertrud von Greiffenclau to Vollrads († 1502), daughter of the knight Friedrich von Greiffenclau to Vollrads (1401-1462), the As a widower in the Franciscan Order .
  • One of his brothers was Johann von Dalberg , Bishop of Worms, and Chancellor of the Kurpfalz . Wolfgang von Dalberg (1473-1522), a younger brother who acted as Kurpfälzer bailiff in Oppenheim. The sister Anna married Pleikard of Gemmingen , the sisters Apollonia, Guda, ] Margaretha and Gertrudis [4] lived as nuns Klostermarienberg to Boppard , Apollonia served as Äbtissin .

  • Friedrich von Dalberg married Katharina von Gemmingen († 1517) daughter of Dieter von Gemmingen († 1467) and Anna von Venningen . Her grandparents were the patriarchal Marschall Hans of the empires of Gemmingen († 1490) and Katharina Landschad von Steinach , on the maternal side the Palatine court master Dietrich von Venningen († 1454) and Margaretha von Handschuhsheim .

  • Frederick VII (c. 1885-25 December 1520) was a 1503 student at the University of Heidelberg and became its rectorin 1511. In 1509 he became a domain lord in Worms, 1516 of the cathedral lord in Speyer. He is buried in St. Martin in Worms.
  • (Mary) Apollonia (* about 1487- April 12, 1524) became abbess of the monastery of Marienberg in Boppard.
  • Anna (c. 1488-1503) was a nun in the monastery of Marienberg in Boppard.
  • Philip IV (1490 or 1491-13 January 1533) married Katharina, daughter of Philip and Catherine of Kronberg. Philip IV was buried in St. Catherine's Church in Oppenheim. His widow married twice more: First Kaspar von Kronberg and after his death in 1537 Frederick IX of Fleckenstein (died 1559).
  • Maria (1491-1523) was also a nun in the monastery of Marienberg in Boppard.

History

Two-point epitaph of the couple in the Katharinenkirche Oppenheim. Dalberg had received the knighthood , which was also attested by the chivalry on his grave, had belonged to the council of Oppenheim since 1482, and acted as mayor from 1503 to 1506. The historian Georg Wilhelm Zapf (1747-1810) held that he had moved to the Worms Reichstag in 1495 in his old knights' rights . He writes about him: "Although Frederick von Dalberg was more experienced in the art of war than in the sciences, he was not a despiser of scholarship, but he estimated the same." [8] Johann Gottfried, canonist and priest at the Katharinenkirche Oppenheim, Dedicated twelve of his translations to antique works. Jakob Wimpfeling translated Filippo Beroaldos De tribus fratribus for him. In a dedication, Johann Gottfried writes that Dalberg is very interested in antique writing, thereby promoting its diffusion and contributing to its preservation. The nobleman, together with his brother, Bishop John of Worms, is the builder of the St. Leonhard's chapel in Dalberg near Bad Kreuznach . He was also a nurse of the churches of Wallhausen and Spabrücken .

Frederick of Dalberg and his wife were buried in the Katharinenkirche Oppenheim, where their artistic double epitaph has been preserved.

Knight Hanns of Dalberg (d. 1531), lord of the Kropsburg and in St. Martin ( Palatinate ) , with a magnificent tomb in the church there, was his cousin. Richard von Greiffenklau to Vollrad (1467-1531), his cousin on his mother's side, acted as Archbishop and Elector of Trier.
