About Fritzi Pauli (Pascheles) (Porges)
Daughter of a respect Prague lawyer and graduated college (unusual for a woman at that time). Was allowed to leave Nazi-occupied Austria with her husband and her engagement ring hidden in a tube of toothpaste. Found refuge in America (Ambassador Joseph Kennedy helped due to the limited Czech quota). Was very intelligent and fluent in several languages. Lived in mid-Manhattan at 220 West 98th Street until the death of her son and then at the Jewish Home for the aged. Was an atheist.
