GODFRIED ZWIJSEN (EDDIE)

Eddie was taken from his home by the Germans at the beginning of World War 2. At the time his sisters were told that he had been picked up because he had been seen slashing the tires of German soldiers vehicles. He was forced to work in a German forced labour camp.

Another story was that he was sent to Auschwitz or Dachau in Germany. It is thought that he may have had some Jewish ancestry through his mother.

He never came home at the end of the war and was declared missing. The family thought that in the final days of the war he may have escaped Germany and crossed into Russia where he was trapped behind the "iron curtian". It is more likely that he died in a German Labour camp or concentration camp.
