Gavin Witherspoon

Gavin Witherspoon came to South Carolina with the first contingent of relatives and friends in 1732. He first married Janet Wilson, his first cousin. She died without issue. He the married Jean, a daughter of John James, of Ox Swamp, a brother of William James (1701-1750) who married his sister, Elizabeth Witherspoon.
