William James died in 1750. His widow was named Elizabeth. He had four sons, John, William, Robert, and Samuel; and four daughters, Jannet, Elizabeth, Esther, and Sarah. He mentions his sons-in-law, David Wilson, Gavin Witherspoon, James McCullough, and Nathaniel McCullough. [3]

She married William James in Ireland and came to South Carolina in 1732, two years before her father. Her shuband, William James, sone of John James, Captain of Dragoons, was born in Wales about 1701. His father left Wales in consequence of a difficulty with his sovereign about a mill pond and fish, moved to Ireland, where he was a soldier under King William III of England in his wars in Ireland against King James II of England.
