Gawie Greef (1933 - 2013)

Gawie (79), and his wife, Bets (79), were found dead in their home in Morningside, Sandton on 6th September 2012. Gawie was found in his study. His hands were tied and his mouth tied with a plastic bag. Bets was found, also tied up with a plastic bag over her head, in the main bedroom. Their bodies were found by their son Ryno.

Capt. Police spokesman Kym Cloete said charges of murder and housebreaking are being investigated. The attackers are still being sought. Ryno said a Ford pickup truck and electronic equipment were stolen and the house was locked before the killers fled.

The Greeffs are also survived by Ryno's daughters, Emma, ​​13, and Klara, 10, as well as his nieces, Alex, 25, and Robert, 27. Their mother, Elize, died of cancer in 2001.
