About Gella Karoline Hopf
See English translation of her profile from the 1928 Tuchmann Stambaum und Chronik as an uploaded document under the "Media" tab
_____________________________
Gella mens "Golden;" she, like her father, had light-coloured hair and eyes, unusual in the family at that time.
Her birth name was Gella Levi, NOT Gella Tuchmann as stated in several online records. In 1813 her father took the surname Tuchmann and thus at the age of 10 she was renamed Gella Tuchmann.
She next married Löb / Loeb Mandelbaum, whose legal name after 1813 was Loeb Emanuel Hopf. Thus she eventually became officially known as Gella Karoline Hopf. (It is not known whether Karoline was her middle name or a Germanized name she adopted upon marriage.)
Her legal name varied so often during the course of her long life that for the purposes of record keeping. it is given here in full: Gella Karoline Levi Tuchmann Hopf.
-- cat yronwode, her third great granddaughter
