About Gene [Eugene] Reilly
Eugene was a lawyer by age 21. His mother was widowed in 1931, so he and Paul were able to stay home during WWII and take care of her. He was a Bridge player and quite quick with sharp remarks. And he could always walk a perfectly straight line.
My favorite memories are of his taking us Reilly kids on fun Sunday drives "over the bump" somewhere out in western NJ. He had a fancy Buick with big upholstered armrests in the front and back. It was always such a thrill to climb up on them and sit right next to Gene. He was FUN!
We received the surprise news of his death when at a National Guard annual picnic around 1960. I loved him very much. Edmund was devastated.
