He was Harvard College graduate in 1760. Ebenezer Hancock was Deputy Pay-Master General under William PALFREY. Patriot in Purple which states that Ebenezer beat his brother, John, by naming a son after George WASHINGTON before him.

He was married, 7 June 1767, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts by Rev. Chas. CHAUNCEY D.D. to Elizabeth LOWELL. Elizabeth Lowell was daughter of Ebenezer Lowell & Mary (REED) LOWELL (Not Mathew Lowell). (Please note Vachel Hancock was not from this family. He was the son of John and Rachel Hancock who were married in Virginia about 1767. Vachel's birth is recorded in Virginia. The family moved to Hillsborough District, Randolph County, North Carolina. John Hancock made his will 23 Sep 1787 and it was probated in Randolph County March 1788. The will leaves half the land to Vachel and the other half to son John. Vachel married Elizabeth 1788 in Randolph, NC. Vachel was listed on the Census for Randolph Co. 1790 and 1800. By 1810 he was buying land in Harrison County, Indiana. Floyd county was created from Harrison and he died there in 1819. I have his estate papers and information on his children. The DAR application that links Vachel to Ebenezer Hancock of Massachusetts. is incorrect).

Note his grandparents, John and Elizabeth also had a son Ebenezer born 7 Dec 1710. He died unmarried in the Diphtheria epidemic of 1741.

Ebenezer’s brother Gov. John Hancock was born Nov 1741 and named for his Uncle who raised them.
