The separation and divorce of this couple led to difficulties which were even related in newspapers of the era. Apparently husband Friedrich "Fritz", General-Konsul (of e.g. San Marino) had mainly been dependent on his wife's wealth - and the dowry she had brought to the marriage. Bertha continued to live in their acquired villa in Hietzing, together with her mother. One day when the two ladies returned home after an absence they found that the ex-husband had visited the villa and removed almost the entire contents - furniture, precious objects etc. The police were notified, a lawyer was appointed and the shoddy story went to trial ...
