  • MR GEORGE ANDERSON.
  • General expression of regret were made? when the news was circulated on Wednesday that Mr George Anderson, the doyen of the local municipal maintenance staff, had suddenly passed away on Tuesday night. He had not been in normal health for some little time, but was not incapacitated to such an extent as to compel him to leave his work, and he worked as usual that day. In the evening, however, he became much worse and died quite unexpectedly. Deceased was 63 years of age and had been 33 in the employ of the municipal council.
  • He was held in high esteem as a faithful and honest workman by successive generations of aldermen, and there were sincere expressions of regret and many remembrances of his good qualities when the news was received just after the close of the council meeting on Tuesday night. He was well known to all the older Inverellites, who respected him as a one type of his class. Deceased is survived by his wife and a family of two sons and three daughters. The sons are Messrs. George (Sydney), and James (Taree), and of the daughters, Miss Jane Anderson resides in Inverell, Miss Mildred Anderson in Sydney and Mrs McArdle also lives in the capital.
  • Deceased was born at Walcha, and was in his younger days a member of the Inverell Fire Brigade.
  • The remains were interred in the Roman Catholic portion of the local cemetery, on Thursday morning when the funeral service was conducted by the Very Rev. Dean O'Neill. Mr C.S. Thorley had charge of the funeral.
