About George Albert Avery

Arrived in NZ on the Bolton in 1840.


Mr George Avery died on Wednesday at his home at Taita, aged eighty-two years. Deceased came from England to New Zealand in the ship Bolton in 1841. For some time he was employed by Sir Francis Molesworth on the property which is now the Bellevue Gardens. Subsequently he took up land at Taita and resided there ever since. Deceased took part in the operations against the natives in the Hutt district in the early days. He leaves fifteen children.
