George Bean was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, in 1754, and died before 1820 in Franklin County, Tennessee. George was the first of Captain William Bean's sons to settle what later became known as "Bean Station" Tennessee. He and his brothers built the fort there. George was one of the famous Bean gunsmiths, as well as a goldsmith and he advertised in "The Knoxville Gazette" in 1792 that he "carried on a goldsmith and jewelers business a this home near Bean's Station." <ref> Clan MacBean in North America, Volume II, Fifth Edition, Revised 1993, by Joseph S.
