He was a Revolutionary soldier, drafted as a militiaman in the Revolutionary war for a term of two months and served as a soldier for said term in company of Capt. George Rinker in the regiment commanded by Col. Jacob Rinker. Between that time and summer of 1782, he performed four other tours in the militia, three of which were for two months each and performed by him as a private drafted militiaman in the same company of Capt,. George Rinker, Col. Jacob Rinker. That the other tour of service he performed as a volunteer for three months, as a private in Capt. Sharp's company, under command of Col. Booth, Maj. Welch. Marched to Richmond, traversed the country between there and the seashore. Stationed on the James River and on the Chickahomini, marched through a portion of North Carolina, was in many skirmishes. At Battle of Yorktown where Cornwallis surrendered, where his service consisted of guarding prisoners taken on the surrender of Cornwallis at the barracks near Winchester 2 Note: visited Indiana prospecting for a place to settle his family Note: granted a patent for 50 acres on the top of Walkers Mountain and on the waters of Beaver Creek a North Branch of Holstein River 3 4 Census: 1785 Shenandoah Co., VA Note: with a total of four in his household Residence: 10 OCT 1805 Washington Co., VA Note: sale of property Will: 27 APR 1828 Washington Co., IN Note: his heirs were his children, grandchildren Samuel Tindall (his deceased daughter Elizabeth's son), John Ard and Jacob Fitz (his deceased daughter Susy's children); mentions previous property distributions; and implies his 2nd wife Julia was deceased. Property mentioned as previously distributed was part of George's original 640 acres. It was surveyed 4 Jul 1787 and delivered to George Brock, who assigned the land to Jacob Freed.
