Book: Five Generations of the Family of Burr Harrison of Virginia, 1650-1800 Author: John P. Alcock, Heritage Books, 2008. Page 223 – 224
“The 1736 rent roll showed George with 400 acres, … George’s first wife, Constant, died before 1741, when his second wife submitted the estate accounts of Francis Stone, who had been her husband, signing them Esther Calvert. It has been suggested that Constant was the daughter of Edward and Ann Barton whose oldest daughter born before 1690 was named Constant. We know of nothing more than the coincidence of first names to support the hypothesis; the fact that none of the Calvert’s known children were given such Barton names as Thomas, Edward, or Nathan argues against it. The maiden name of Esther Stone Calvert is also unknown. . . . In a deposition made in 1800, Humphrey Calvert, aged seventy-one years, named two more sons of George 2, i.e., himself and William, and reconfirmed that John and George were sons. George 2 died in 1771. His will recorded in a lost book evidently named his widow, Esther; his stepson Thomas Stone; and Obed Calvert as his executors …”
