Thomas Chalkey wrote of his father frequently in his diary. See page 234 for death date.
Horselydown was his Quaker Meeting at the time of his death and was his place of burial (page 235) ; and the WIdow Mary Webb had provided the house and garden for the Meeting.
IT HAD STOOD at the corner of Fair Street and Artillery Lane, London. see https://search.proquest.com/openview/7a0b143e41cede14/1?pq-origsite...
but this structure was erected in 1738, after George's death. Prior to that the Meeting was at Mary Webb's house and garden.

Southwark Meeting house,, Fair Street, London, Greater London, SE1, United Kingdom
Note Fair street, referenced to Widow Mary Webb's Meeting House and garden still exists. The neighborhood is of course much changed. The Meering house was torn down by soldiers then rebuilt at least twice before disappearing altogether after 1800. https://www.google.com/maps/place/51%C2%B030'07.0%22N+0%C2%B004... This is just south of the famous Tower Bridge. The Quaker meeting House site is seen clearly on https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ea/John_Rocque_174... just above St. John's church yard (1746 map) This shows the referenced "Parish Street" also. |
