When Abraham Hatfield was born in 1695, his father, Abraham, was 25 and his mother, Phoebe, was 21. He married Margaret Winans in 1716. They had nine children in 19 years. He died late April, early May, and his will was proved on May 14, 1745. He died approximately at the age of 50, and was buried in Newark, New Jersey. His remains have been removed from the defunct burial ground in which the majority of the Jersey settlers were buried, and reinterred in Fairmount Cemetery, located on the border of modern day East Orange and Newark (once considered still part of Elizabethtown).
The family line becomes somewhat unclear at this point. One account lists the children of Abraham Jr. and Margaret as William, John and Elias. George Hatfield is considered a seperate line by this account. However another account shows Joseph Sr. as the son of Abraham Jr. and Margaret
And yet another account lists Joseph Sr. as the son of George Sr. Further research is necessary to prove the true connection.

Also known as: GEORGE "ABE" ABRAHAM HATFIELD this is likely where the George and Abraham distinction came from. It may be one person and not two.
