George Hite owned 1,145 acres of land in the valley. He served in Colonel George Baylor's Third Regiment of Light Dragoons. Octoer 1777 George's regiment joined another at Fredericksburg, VA. In March 1778 they arrived at Valley Forge. He was under the command of Captain Caswallader Jones. Discharged 9/4/1982.
