Kindly have patience - trying to solve this very elusive complex profile and his line. It has been a thick brick wall, for many years! ARGH!!! At least I have a picture of him now! The search for docs are constant and ongoing!
POSSIBLE other and still unproven 1 st marriage - in Scotland'?
I still have serious questions about a possible 1st marriage to Elizabeth Ramsay (or Ramsey), that could potentially have been his 1st wife, that maybe stayed in Scotland, or had died/ been divorced from him - before he came to South Africa? His 1st marriage in RSA however stipulates on his m.certificate, that he was a young man and not a widow !? Surely he would not lie on this, would he? I will then not link her to him as wife, - at this stage! Kindly see Elizabeth Ramsay’s “about” section. Elizabeth Ramsay McDonald ( PUTATIVE PROFILE - NOT CONFIRMED YET!)
Therefore now thinking about a totally out of the box /maybe other connection to him - could she have been his mother or grandmother?
I have her cute picture, that was given to me by my mother in law - who got it from Lena McDonald (who was her mother in law). Elizabeth is currently placed as possibly rather being married to this George *1822 (2 generations up - which could make her the George McD SV 's possible grandmother! See:

Proceed however with utter caution with her being placed there! Ongoing research. I am pulling my hair out here! No trace of docs on her yet, but the family verbal tradition ''knows of her connection'' to a George McD - but it is not clear what that connection was and with which George!

He was mentioned as a young man and not a widower, so it is assumed to be his first marriage ( in RSA) at the age of 33 years. That would eliminate the Elizabeth Ramsay theory as wife in Scotland - but still needs docs on this! I still feel she is somehow connected to him! We just got to find that connection !

Wilma, I agree that this is a mistake. Thomas' mother was George's second wife. (according to Pat Howe)
