George J Patterson Rogers, Sr.

George Rogers, Sr., was born 1662 in Luce Bay, County Antrim, Ireland. He married Isabella Beatrice McCobb in 1702. They made the big voyage to New England in 1720, bringing their infant son George. They settled in Georgetown, Maine, where he died on October 31, 1743. He was buried nearby in Dromore Cemetery in Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine. The double tombstone reads: “(Double stone with skull and crossbones) here lies buried the body of Mr. George Rodgers who departed this life 10/30/1743 Age 81 years. 2. Here lies buried the body of Mrs. Isabella Rodgers, wife of George Rodgers who departed this life 12/15/1743 Age 65 years.” (Spelling the name with a “d” only appears on the
