About George Smith, of Dover Neck

From History of the town of Durham, New Hampshire (Oyster River Plantation) with genealogical notes, by Everett S. Stackpole and Lucien Thompson. Published 1913 by Published by vote of the town in [Durham? N.H.] .  Volume 2. page 329

He probably lived at Dover Neck and may have had a house lot there of three or four acres, as all the first settlers had. There is no probate record concerning him. He disappears in 1653.

There was a George Smith, son of Thomas, who died in Ipswich in 1661 and another George Smith who died 15 Dec 1674. His will mentions wife, unnamed, and children, Thomas, Samuel, Sarah, Newman, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Joanna.
Was the George Smyth of Dover as the same person as the George Smith of Ipswich? How was either related to the John Smith who "adventured" £25 in 1628?
Not a shred of evidence has been found that George Smyth was the father of James Smith and Joseph Smith of Oyster River, nor that the two last were related at all.

"I am looking for George Smith, son of Thomas born @1595. He married Temperance @1620 and they came to Boston @1630-1640. I have been searching in Lincolnshire, Cheshire and Lancashire. His grandfather, another George Smith is reported to have been from Willoughby (Lancashire). I cannot find this place. As well, this Smith family was to have dwelt for two hundred years at the old Haugh. George left Plymouth England and eventually settled in Oyster River, New Hampshire. Any reports of this George would be appreciated."

comments

Do not confuse with Capt John Smith of Jamestown (1579-1631), who did not marry Pocahantas, or anyone else; nor did he have any children.
