Gert Hattingh (1920 – 2005)

Brief overview:

Gert (85), of Het Blok farm, in Endicott, between Delmas and Nigel, was tied up with rope and beaten to death, on 11th December 2005.

Gert, who lived alone, was attacked and brutally murdered, his body was found by his domestic worker in the kitchen on his farm in Ermelo Road, Devon, at about 6.30am on Monday. The cause of death was to be determined by a postmortem. Detectives from the East Rand violent crime unit launched a manhunt for the killers of the Devon farmer. His hands and feet were bound with rope. It is suspected that his attackers broke open the wooden front door to gain entry to the house.
