Gert (74), a retired General was beaten to death with a metal pipe on 4th August 2003 at his home in Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria.

The son of the murdered Gen. Gert Johannes Petrus de Wachter on 4th August 2005 in the Pretoria High Court dismissed his father's alleged killer's version of events as "twak".

Mr. Johan de Wachter told how he came across his father's body in his house in August 2003 Waterkloofrif, Pretoria, after his father did not keep an appointment. According to the indictment, De Wachter died from skull and brain injuries.

"I saw a big pool of blood in the kitchen and saw my father lying on the dining room floor with the dog's
blanket wrapped around his head," he testified. He consistently referred to Joel Tebogo Mogale (20) watched in the dock as he told how he took the blanket off his father's head and realized his father had been killed.

Mogale is on trial on charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances, but denies guilt on all charges. Mogale has at mouths from his legal representative, mr. Lawrence Tshabalala, said he hit De Wachter when he lost his temper after De Wachter cursed him, because he apparently scratched his car when he washed it.

De Wachter Jr. dismissed this version as "twak". He said his father was very safety conscious and would
not hiring people off the street. According to him, his father was very bad about his car and washed it himself
that not even the gardener who has worked for him for 17 years may have washed it.

He further testified how, a few months after the murder, he came across a metal pipe in a cupboard which presumably had blood on it. This pipe was probably used as a murder weapon.

According to the indictment, Mogale climbed over the fence and entered the house through the back door.
He presumably hit De Wachter with the metal pipe after which he put various articles in two suitcases and left the house.
