Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Gertrude Kalthoff, age 96, who died Thursday at the Koronis Manor Nursing Home, Paynesville. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Christian Women and Catholic Aid Association.

Gertrude was born in St. Martin, MN to Michael and Theresa (Utsch) Jacobs. She married John Kalthoff on October 4, 1932 in St. Martin Church, St. Martin. Gertrude was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Catholic Aid Association, and Christian Women.

Survivors include her children, Florina (Marcus) Schlangen, Virgil (Mary) Kalthoff, Laura (Arthur) Klaphake, Eileen (Donald) Thomes, Leona (Wayne) Klein, Irene (Gary) Plantenberg, Helen (Donald) Brossard, Rita (Jerry) Reitmeier; son-in-law, Richard Fleischhacker; daughter-in-law, Helen Wessels; 44 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Janssen; sisters-in-law, Doris Jacobs, Helen Jacobs, Leona Moscho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John (1989); parents; children, Clotilda Fleischhacker, Benno Kalthoff, Kenneth Kalthoff; daughter-in-law, Margaret Kalthoff; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Matt, Gustav, Norbert, Leo, Bernard Jacobs; sisters, Otillia Kalthoff, Anna Kalthoff, Katherine Dingmann, Bernadine Hinnenkamp.

Special THANK YOU to the Paynesville Koronis Manor Staff for the wonderful care they gave to Gertrude and her family. Gertrude Kalthoff, 96, of Richmond died on Thursday, July 22, at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 26, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Gertrude was born on May 8, 1914, to Michael and Theresa (Utsch) Jacobs in St. Martin.

She married John Kalthoff on Oct. 4, 1932, in St. Martin Church. Their union lasted until JohnÕs death in 1989.

She is survived by her children, Florina (Marcus) Schlangen, Virgil (Mary) Kalthoff, Laura (Arthur) Klaphake, Eileen (Donald) Thomes, Leona (Wayne) Klein, Irene (Gary) Plantenberg, Helen (Donald) Brossard, and Rita (Jerry) Reitmeier; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; 44 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Janssen; and three sisters-in-law.
