From Christening records showing below, it's possible that Gilbert had a son named Thomas. However, the presently hyperlinked Thomas—somehow dying as a child in Somme, Picardie—is nonsensical.

- Careful! Long-faulty ancestral trees have long existed RE Thomas Oliver, son of Gilbert.
- Issue 1: No source proves that this Thomas emigrated. Yes, a Thomas Oliver, boarded the "William and Francis" in London, which set sail for Colonial America on 9 Mar 1632 (arr. 5 Jun 1632).
- Issue 2: Charles Banks, on page 56 of his book about 2885 English Emigrants, provides all known emigrant ship names and the passenger lists that were kept. While a Thomas Oliver was aboard the "William and Francis", he is listed with emigrants who removed from Gloucestershire. Gloucester and Westminster, the town of Thomas' christening, are 180 km (112 mi) apart.

- Wikitree's webpage about Thomas Oliver (c.1575–1658) is worth a look, though it doesn't address the above-cited issues.
