About Gilbert de Marillac, baron de Porsac, Seigneur de St Genest et Bicon
Titles: Secretary to the Constable of Bourbon, an historian for Bourbon, Advocate General parliament of Paris, Auditor of accounts of Madame (Queen Mother) Louise de Savoy at Moulin. Captain Lord of Montpensier.
On the Family tomb, one can read this inscription "Hoc est sepulcrum familiae de Marillacis, quod oedificatum fuit, anno MDXVI" (This is the sepulchre of the de Marillac family constructed in 1516).
Gilbert's epitaph 'Gilberti Marillaci a sancto genesio domini, a poissaco baroni incliti, multis nominum titulus clarissimi generosimic viri tumultus. (Translated as: 'The tomb of Gilbert Marillac of the house of St Jean, and the celebrated baron de Porsac illustrated by the number of titles, a generous man'.)
Gilbert married Peronelle Filliol . They had a daughter Jeanne Peronelle who married Michel Of Veny, knight in armour, lord of Fernoel and Arbutus-Berry. He was also General of Finances and treasurer of France of Riom. LA Vie p 493
La Vie p15 states that Aigueperse documents describe him in the following words: "Gilbert left not only a reputation as an eloquent and enlightened magistrate, and as a great Jurisconsult, but even that as a man of good. He freely gave his advice to the poor and distributed his wages to plaintiffs who were not in circumstances to pursue their interests"
