About Gladys C. Pohli
Met her husband (Uncle Gus) through work. He was a diamond carrier. He always had a pocket full of diamonds which he took from one place to another. Aunt Gladys was a jewelry driver which meant she tracked jewels as they entered the country to their final destination (jewelers)
Au;nt Gladys had two children Robert and Elaine. I never knew Robert.. When we went to visit them in Teaneck NJ I was just a teenager and Robert was already out of the house. Elaine was 16 and usually went out with her friends after we arrived, I remember wishing I was older and wanting to go out with her but never could. We saw them very infrequently - about every 2 years.
Aunt Gladys came to Keyport NJ with a "good friend" who drove her We visited Aunt Gladys in Union City (she lived in a back tiny house in a courtyard (grass) behind the storefronts of Kennedy Blvd. It was during this time that Elaine gave copies of pages from Aunt Gladys's diary regarding Harry's birth.and how happy she was.
