Gohanna (Anna) Helena Doss

Gohanna (Anna) Helena Seerden, is the daughter of Frank Seereden and Mary Jadwiga Petrucha Seerden and was born February 28, 1860 and died November 9, 1939.

On June 19, 1883, she was married to William Watts Doss, son of William Alexander Doss and Cordelia Web Doss in Matagordia, TX. William was born on November 23, 1856 at Approxattox County, VA and died on his 99th birthday on November 23, 1955 in New Gulf, TX.

Gohanna (Anna) Helena passed away just one month and three days before her first great-grand-child was born to Kathleen Henigan Tatum and A. J. Tatum.

William Watts Doss was just a young man when he left home at Appromattax, VA to seek his fortune. He was well educated, therefore he had no trouble in finding work. He first went to Galveston, TX and secured a job at a shipping yard, buying & selling cotton.

From there, he worked for awhile at Sandy Point, TX and then he got a job as a bookkeeper and Post-master at Matthes Store in Caney, TX. He stayed there until the store burned, then he got a job teaching Mr. and Mrs. Frank Seerden's children.

After William and Gohanna (Anna) got married on June 19, 1883 at Matagorda, TX, he taught school at Mrs. Franz. Some of the children he taught were: Annie Bunk, Alex Gavender, Willie Eidlebach, the Franz children and many, many more.

Mr. Doss loved to traveland on his 96th birthday, he traveled back once more to his old birthplace, making the trip there and back just fine on a bus.

William was very spry and a very proud Englishman. He met his maker very quietly and calmly, as for one morning he just didn't wake up.

Both (William & Gohanna) of these dearist ones are buried at Matagorgda, TX along the side of Gohanna's mother and father and the rest of the their loved ones that proceeded them.

They had five (5) children: 1. Jadwiga Cordelia (Addie) Doss, born September 30, 1886 2. Mary Frances Doss, born March 4. 1889 3. William Walter Doss, born 1/16/1892 4. George Stephen Doss, born July 25, 1898 5. Annie Cathryn Doss, born September 26, 1904
