Grace's birth is estimated from the births of her children about 1675 to about 1685. Death: 1700, Stonington. [citation needed] 04 December 1727 [citation needed]

From Torreys NE Marriages:[1] "COOK, Richard & [Grace] ____; by 1681, 1681(2?); Preston, CT/ Norwich, CT {Norwich VR 13; Leonard (,2) 56 add; Sv. 1:449, 450; Reg. 52:271}" Note: There is no mention of Richard's wife's name in any of the sources he listed.

Grace Cook was admitted to the Congregational Church at Stonington on 7 November 1680.[2]

It is said that Grace, widow of Richard Cooke, of Norwich, married secondly to Benjamin Spaulding, who named a wife, Grace, in his will proved 1713 in Plainfield, Windham, Connecticut.[3]

  2. Elizabath Cooke bpt. 30 June 1678, Stonington, New London, Connecticut;[2] d. May 1738, Preston, New London, Connecticut; married Joseph Benjamin.
  3. Lydia Cooke bpt. 27 April 1679, Stonington, New London, Connecticut;[2] d. aft. 1721, Connecticut - married Samuel Leonard (Lennard, Lenard).
  4. Obed Cooke b.1 February 1681, Norwich, New London, Connecticut;[4] d. 7 April 1755, Preston, New London, Connecticut, USA) - was 14 in 1695.
  5. Sarah Cooke (b.abt. 1682, Stonington, New London, Connecticut, d. 17 May 1724, Preston, New London, Connecticut, USA) - married John Andrews.
  6. Jane Cook (b.1686, Preston, New London, Connecticut, d. 1721, Connecticut).

Death & Burial

The date of death and burial for Grace is unknown, but stated as 4 DEC 1727 on Find-a-Grave (without sources) in Stonington, New London, Connecticut. [5]

Research Notes

  • Savage does not mention Richard's wife.[6]
  • Ancestry Trees frequently call her Elizabeth Grace Larabee daughter of Greenfield. And indeed Elizabeth Larabee, dtr of Greenfield, was born 23 Jan 1652, in Saybrook, Connecticut.[7]
  • Grace is not listed as a child of Greenfield Larrabee in the Vital Records of Connecticut. [8]
  • There are no records for a Grace Larrabee in the Barbour Collection
  • Ancestry search, turns up the trees and a US and Intl Marriage record to James Eaton.
  • All the hits at AmericanAncestors are for modern Grace Larabees.
