GRISSALL DUNLOP (OTHERWISE GRISEL DUNLOP)

is the daughter of James Dunlop of Garnkirk, and his wife, Henrietta Maxwell. She was born before 5 April 1724, the date upon which her baptism was registered at Cadder parish in Lanarkshire,Scotland. She was probably born at Garnkirk there Scotland, Births and Baptisms

Her cousin, Alexander Peter, merchant burgess of Glasgow, in a disposition and settlement dated 6 September 1803, instructed his trustees to pay one hundred pounds sterling to: "Helen, Margaret, Mary, and Grisel Dunlops, daughters of the deceased James Dunlop, eldest son of James Dunlop of Garnkirk, my uncle" [National Archives of Scotland, Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Sheriff Court Inventories, 1804-1925, A Disposition and Settlement made by Alexander Peter, merchant burgess of Glasgow, reference SC36/48/1, pages 397-406].
