Biography Blanchard Guillaume

!Guillaume and Huguette had 12 children between 1674 and 1698. In July 1698, Blanchards and two of !his sons joined Pierre Thibodeau on the latter's second expedition to the Chipoudy (Shepody) River. The !Blanchards, sailing in their own boat, explored The Petitcodiac before returning to Port Royal in the !autumn. In summer of 1699 they returned to the Petitcodiac and established a small settlement, known !for a time as "Village des Blanchard," probably near the present site of Hillsborough, N.B. Blanchard !returned again the next year, and in 1701 he left two sons, a daughter, and her husbandto spend the !winter on the Petitcodiac. !Lagal suits had been threatened by Claude Sebastien De Villier on behalf of his father in law, Michel !Leneuf de La Valliere (the elder), resident at Beaubassin, who claimed the Chipoudy and the Petitcodiac !settlements as part of his seigneury. A declaration of 1703 by the Conseil de'Etat, repeated in 1705, !confirmed the settles in the possession of their land, but also stated that La Valliere was to have !seigneurial rights over the land. La Valliere's successful claim destroyed the settlers' hope of obtaining !seigneurial rights for themselves andtheir descendants. The Blanchard family continued to grow, and !numerous Blanchards, probably descendants of Guillaume, were enumerated among the more than 300 !Petitcodiac settlers in 1752.

Attention! ==*Parents of Guillaume are very likely Jean Blanchard and Radegonde Lambert , see census 1678 and 1686. The statement Radegonde came from France is questionable. It could very well be that it was her father (possibly Jean Lambert) that came from France instead of her and that shewas born in Acadia.≤ref>"Acadian Origins: According to the Depositions Made by Their Descendants at Belle-Ile-en-Mer in 1767"r Descendants at Belle-Ile-en-Mer in 1767" - Stephen A. White - 17 Jan 2005 - Postedon website of Lucie LeBlanc Consentino. www.acadian-home.org - Radegonde LAMBERT came from France with her husband Jean BLANCHARD, according to Jean LeBLANC, husband of her great-granddaughter Françoise BLANCHARD. However, the husband's name is mistakenly given as Guillaume, and she is named Huguette POIRIER [sic]. "Dictionnaire Généalogique des Familles Acadiennes"; Stephen A. False Parentage for Father == *Jean Blanchard was born in about 1611 in France. Hisparents are not known. He is often listed with parents named Guillaume Blanchard and Huguette Poirier, but this is actually false; it is the result of confusion with Jean's son, Guillaume Blanchard, and his wife Huguette Gougeon.(See discussion here.)* Please note that Stephen White's interpretation of the BIM document is his opinion only and to report any deviation from it as fact is a violation of the law.

: The result of the 1755 Expulsion was that the Blanchard families were scattered to various places along the Atlantic seaboard and France, some reaching Louisiana. Blanchards from France ===: "The first Blanchard in Acadia was Guillaume Blanchard, who arrived in about 1640 from France with his wife, Huguette Poirier, and their son, Jehan, and daughter, Marie, and her husband, Jerome Guerin. The 1671 census of the colony lists Jehan and Marie as originally having been from La Chausse in old Poitou. Guillaume and Huguette Poirier Blanchard were deceased by the time of this census." ≤ref>Blanchards from France, Damon Veach Genealogy columnist/The Times-Picayune July 19, 1998http://www.nola.com/ancestors/archive/1998/071998.html≤/ref>
