Guy, count of Trèves

Count Gui. He was named as a Count (706-722). The traditional lineage for Count Guy makes him son of Lievin, Bishop of Trèves, and grandson of Guerin. Some sources say he was father of Lantbert of Hornbach.
Guy perished at the Battle of Poitiers on October 10, 732 fighting in Charles Martel's army against the invaders of the Umayyad Caliphate. His son, who was then 22 years old, received the County of Hornbach in favor, and his son Guy (or Wido) was baptized in honor of his paternal grandfather. The son of the latter, Lambert (great-grandson of the Count of Trèves Guy) would marry a great-granddaughter of Charles Martel, an Italian princess granddaughter of Charlemagne, through which the Family would ascend to the Duchy of Spoleto and even come under Guy III, to gird the imperial crown
