Halvard came to the state hospital from Columbus in Stillwater County where he'd been employed as a sheepherder. He was unmarried. It was thought he had been in the US for about 35 years. Some records indicate he arrived in 1911. Holiver (Halvard) was in care here 11 yr 2 mo and died of arteriosclerosis. It appears that he used as his last name the name of his hometown in Norway, Fjosne, and that his given name, according to records on Ancestry.com, is Halvard Olai Oisteinsen. He is the son of Osten Halvorsen and Martha Eriksdatter. One of his sisters also used as a surname Fjosna. His siblings are Marte Margrete Osteinsdatter and Oline Helene Osteinsdatter Fjosne. He had an infant sister who died. Online family records simply reflect that he came to the US and died.
