About Hannah Cook

Sham Alert

  • Someone opined on Ancestry.com that Hannah may've first married a Theophilus Cook. Whoever put that not on Ancestry provided zero evidence to justify it.
  • Somehow, that iffy connection transferred to this Geni profile. The idea inherently presupposes that Hannah married then very soon after divorced Theophilus—to later marry Samuel. Not!
  • Hannah's sister Mindwell provably married Theophilus Cook. and there was only one Theophilus in the vicinity at the time.

There is no primary-specific record of birth for Hannah.

However, in her father's "December 1699" Probate (attached in Sources), Hannah is named being age 10. The year 1699 is likely O.S., so by deduction, she was born in 1680. Thus, this probate information serves as a primary source for the year of Hannah's birth.
This deduction is echoed in the four-volume work by James Savage.
NOTE: Most of the children were probably born in Simsbury, including Hannah, which was the place of residence for her family for several years prior to her father's death.
